Presentation of the SIEPP (France)

The Inter-District Association of Electrification and Lighting of Haute-Corse (SIEPP) is a public body to which 234 municipalities of the Corsica island adhere, to the benefit of 120,000 inhabitants.

The SIEPP purpose is to:

  •  Set up all public electricity distribution networks

Annually, the SIEPP builds 60 kms of network and carries out capacity reinforcement operations for 60 other kms. The setting of these networks requires materials such as cables, lamps, bulbs, electricity poles for overhead lines, etc.

These networks are then given to the concession of EDF (French Company of Electricity), which ensures power supply.

  • Control of the electric consumption demand

Corsica is a region whose annual electricity consumption has doubled compared to the continent. Its insular situation questions with acuity its energetic autonomy and encourages thinking of an energetic model that would combine sustainability and affordability for the final consumer. Several levers can be operated to reduce power consumption: awareness-raising campaigns, use of insulating materials in the construction industry, etc.
